SLEEPY ROOSTERS is a Blues band born in Madrid (Spain) whose main and notorious influences are Chicago Blues and the raw and primitive Mississippi sound.

Their repertoire is a collection of North American Blues classics that cover from the deepest Robert Johnson's and Muddy Waters' blues to the electric and powerful sound from Artists such as Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Magic Sam, Freddie King among others.


Born in Madrid took singing lessons in different schools in the capital since 2000, like Pentagrama, Esmuva or the EMC. His first steps on stage are in 2010 singing simultaneously in the group “GTB” and the Gospel Choir “Gospelpeoplespain” from the EMC. In 2011 search for a project focused only in African American music and was a member of “Muddy Train” blues band where they tried to go back to 50s and 60s blues sound.

Passionate about Soul, R&B, Jazz and Blues is author of the Blog “Letsgetiton11” where we can see the different influences from all this genres, from Otis Redding and Al Green to D'Angelo, from Joe Williams or Johnny Hartman to Howlin Wolf, Jimmy Witherspoon or Muddy Waters.


Guitar player from Madrid, has played in several blues bands. Started in Madrid in 1997 with “Round Robin” and the famous “Tonky Blues Band”. Later on in Málaga, took part in different blues bands like “Nighttrain”, “Blues Experience” and “Stormy Monday”. In this period of time performed in 2006 Marbella Blues Festival with Apple Jack and Parker Frost both from San Francisco, and also in 2007 Benalmádena Blues Festival with his own band “Stormy Monday”. In August 2007 played again in Marbella´s blues Festival 2nd edition with veteran guitarist from Granada Joaquin Sánchez.

In 2008 went to Dublin, Ireland, where he got in the city's blues scene through the Irish Blues Club that took place in the legendary J.J.Smith bar. Played in different bands like “Parchman Farm”, “Salvo Blues Band”, “Rumboogies”, “Rollin & Tumblin” and “Hollywood Slim” and during Mayin the Dublin city Soul Festival.

Back in Madrid, has played in bands like “Red Cotton”, “Jet Black” and “Muddy Train” and now in his current project “Sleepy Roosters”.


Nono Mellado “Nono que tono” is a Harp enthusiast from institute. Met Joaquín Sánchez “la abuela”, Manolo “el loco de la Carolina” (Harp master), José Granados and Javier Rodriguez in 2001.

In 2002 played in the “Flying Donkey” band with Sergio Novo, Nacho Mena "HotNasho" y Julian Bourne and played in several concerts with Fernando Beiztegui Blues Band and Joaquín Sánchez.
In 2007 played with “Red Cotton” acoustic blues covering Howlin Wolf or Muddy Waters...

In 2009 team up with Antonio Trave “El Oso de Benalúa” and formed tha acoustic duo Oso&Nono with collaboration from Fernando Beiztegui, Hot Nasho, Javier Rodriguez...

Always present in Blues Jams and conerts as a special guest, his influences are Little Walter, Junior Wells, James Cotton, Walter Horton, Sonny Boy Williamson... Is back in Madrid where he has joined “Sleepy Roosters”.
